Monumental Inscription

Church of St Lawrence, Swindon, Gloucestershire, England

This aisle was erected
by the Reverend William Hayward COX,
Rector of S^t Martin's, in the City of Oxford, Clerk,
and John Surman COX,
of Cheltenham, in this county, Esq^re,
in memory of their father and mother,
John COX, Lieut^t Col^l
in the Worcestershire Regiment of Regular Militia,
and Captⁿ H.P. in Her Majesty's 77^th Regim^t of Foot;
and Charlotte, his wife,
daughter of William Hayward, Esq^re.
He died 25^th of Dec^r, 1847, in the 70^th year of his age.
She died 10^th of Jan^y, 1846, in the 70^th year of her age.
They lie buried in a vault
at the south door of this church.
